DIY : 52 things i love about you.

Ok first of all, total credit to this blog!

I just thought i'd do my own tutorial and give you some added tips for this project. 

It's super easy and hopefully my dear husband doesn't see this before father's day. hehe.

{Finished project above ^}

You will need:

-Deck of Cards: I was going to go the cheap route and get some from the Dollar Store, but for longer lasting better quality, I went with Bicycle.

-Hole puncher: Make sure you have a good one! Knowing me, I'm pretty sure I own the cheapest hole puncher so I had to press and twist to get my holes.  {It just took longer.}

-Glue: she used Mod Podge but I decided to use my trusty pink glue gun. :)

-Rings: I found my book rings at walmart.  I couldn't find a package with just one set

-Sharpie:whatever color you choose.

-About 2 sheets of cardstock.

-I didn't print mine out like she did. I just wrote them {mainly because we were out of ink}

-Scissors



Step 1: Punch holes in deck. Refer to the supplies list for additional assistance.

Step 2: Cut out enough paper strips that will fit on the cards. {if you're printing, go ahead and do that before cuttin the pieces.}

Step 3: Glue the papers onto the cards

Step 4: Insert rings and VOILA!

Cost Breakdown:

Deck of cards: $2.88

Rings: $1.87

Paper: $1.24

Glue: I used some I have at home.

Sharpie: Same thing, already had it!

Total: $6.29

Sucha  great, thoughtful, cheap gift!

DIY : Glitter Nails

I absolutely love glitter nails! I found a way to do it myself, without the costly "actual" glitter toes or fingers.  I must admit, I love getting them done better because they last MUCH longer.  But if you're in a quick need of glitter, this is for you!

Supplies you will need:

-Nail polish remover

-Cotton Balls

-Clear nail polish {top coat or base coat}

-Glitter glitter glitter: I found a "glitter caddy" at walmart for like $5

It's really as simple as it seems.

1. Coat your nails {or toes} with your clear nail polish.  I would suggest that you do one hand {or foot} at a time because you don't want the polish to dry. 

2.  Coat the nails with the color glitter that you want.  {Dont worry about being neat yet} Make sure to do this over a paper so you can save the excess glitter. 

3.  Shake your hand {or foot}

4.  Let dry

5.  Do a top coat for longer lasting glitter nails.

DIY Baby Mobile

This project was so much fun! I had been wanting to make one for a while but I needed inspiration by looking at all kinds of baby mobiles {aka pinterest} I ended up making mine very similar to one I found on there.  This is a great project though because there really are no limits!! You can do farm animals, sea animals, or even just shapes! I fell in love with this owl one though. 



You will need:

842 white felt squares

1 lime green felt square

1 kelly green felt square

1 baby blue felt square

1 orange felt square

String {could be white, clear... whatever you'd like!}

Something to hang everything on! {I found mine at Michaels, it was perfect because it had holes in it to string through each piece.  It was around $2 I think and is wood.  Find it near the wreath stuff!

White craft paint {or whatever color you want}

Hot glue gun

Scissors

Sewing Machine

Batting

Something for the eyes {I used black rhinestones}

Buttons {optional}

Fabric Scraps {for some owls bellies, optional}

Cost Breakdown:

-6 felt squares - I saw felt at Walmart for $0.23!! The only thing is the color selection may not be the best.  Otherwise I think it's around $0.34 @ your local craft store.

-String - I think was around $2.00 but had TONS left for future projects.

-Wreath - $2.00

-Craft paint - $0.84

-Batting - $4.00 but I have tons left for other projects as well.

All the rest of the supplies I already had so hopefully you can find some things lying around your house that you can use too!

Total cost: $10.88



Let's get started,

first... I painted my wreath white.  I added a coat of glitter paint on top to add some charm.  Next, I cut out all of my pieces {owls, birds, clouds, the moon, the whole shebang}.  I just free cut them all, but if you don't feel comfortable, find a pattern online to use as your sample. 

Glue on all of your eyes, noses, buttons and whatever you want to add to your characters.

This part is TRICKY! Don't forget {like I did} to sew onto  the string... I sewed my owls seperate from the string and realized that the string will show as well as the glue on the back of the owls.  {I hope that makes sense}.  I sewed around the owls just enough to leave an opening to stuff them with fluff :)

For the wreath, I cut out white felt to make clouds to surround the whole thing.  Which I think turned out really cute!

Add your finishing touches and then you are free to hang in you nursery.

DIY Paper Wheel

We have a frame that hangs in our bathroom that I've been wanting to "dress-up". I've made paper wheels before so I decided to use one of these to put on the frame.  I've used these paper wheels on banners before and they turned out super cute! So, let's get started! 

 Supplies:

Paper {depending on how big you want your wheel, is how much paper you'll want}

Scissors

Hot glue

Something for the center {i.e. buttons, rhinestones...} this is optional

 

 1.  Cut your paper in half.  The thicker the halves are, the bigger the diameter of the circle will be.

Hopefully that made sense..

2.  Fold both halves accordion- like.  

3.  Fold the halves in half.  Haha, that sounds crazy but hopefully the picture helps you out. 

 4.  Glue the folded part using a hot glue gun.  Or anything that will have a strong hold.

5.  Glue the halves together.

6.  This is where you can add a center on the paper wheel.  

So there ya go, that's it!
